Why does my medicine bottle disagree with an online dosage chart?

Do not choose a liquid amount until the mismatch is resolved. An online chart may describe a different product, strength or label version. Compare it with your own package and ask a pharmacist or clinician about unclear directions.

Compare the Drug Facts, not just the brand

Check the active ingredients, concentration, liquid or tablet form, and country. Similar brand names can cover different ingredients, and manufacturers can change labels. Read the directions and warnings on your package each time.

Identify what actually conflicts

A strength such as mg per 5 mL describes concentration; it is not itself a liquid amount to administer. Check whether the chart uses the same units and age or weight bands. KinToolkit covers selected US liquids and does not resolve a mismatch by converting another bottle’s instructions.

Bring both sources when asking for help

Show the pharmacist or clinician your package and the chart or instruction that differs. Ask which directions apply to the exact product before using an unclear amount.
