How do the infant Motrin rows cover 6 through 23 months?

US Infants’ Motrin concentrated drops use two published rows for ages 6–23 months. Identify the 50 mg per 1.25 mL bottle first. These rows are label references, not permission to use ibuprofen for every child of that age.

Six, seven, eight, nine, ten and eleven months

Infants’ MOTRIN 50 mg / 1.25 mL, weight band 12–17 lb (label age 6–11 months): 1.25 mL. Label interval: every 6–8 hours if needed. No more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

Twelve through twenty-three months, including fifteen and eighteen months

Infants’ MOTRIN 50 mg / 1.25 mL, weight band 18–23 lb (label age 12–23 months): 1.875 mL. Label interval: every 6–8 hours if needed. No more than 4 doses in 24 hours.

A 20-pound search still needs the bottle and age check

Twenty pounds lies within the printed 18–23 lb band. That does not override the product’s age restrictions or resolve a disagreement between age and weight. Use weight when possible as the manufacturer directs, and ask a healthcare professional when the directions do not clearly apply. Do not round between bands.

Under six months or a different concentration

Under 6 months, ask a healthcare provider. Children’s Motrin 100 mg per 5 mL is a different liquid from these infant drops. Do not carry the same mL amount from one bottle to the other.
